WBC flyweight champion Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez is back in training but it seems that such is simply to stay in shape as he prepares for his next opponent.

While Gonzalez did mention on Monday that he is set to face former champion Giovanni Segura of Mexico, “Chocolatito” has backpedalled and claims that he was misinformed on who he would be fighting next.

"Please forgive me, brothers. I was badly informed. For now I have no date for the next fight, much less an opponent. Blessings," says Gonzalez via Boxingscene.com.

While Gonzales is set to return as early as February, there is nothing definite yet on who he would be facing. However, the name that seems to be on Gonzalez’ radar is Segura so it may all depend on how negotiations go.

Aside from Segura, however, there are some who want to see “Chocolatito” face Juan Francisco Estrada. Unfortunately, that dream fight could come after his next opponent, likely to happen sometime in late 2016.

It seems that the Nicaraguan boxer has a lot of reason to fight Segura next. For one, he has taken exception to Segura’s claim that he can defeat “Chocolatito”. That now becomes added motivation on his end where he is looking for a fast knockout to shut down Segura for his comments.

Gonzalez last fought in October where he won via TKO over Brian Villoria of the Philippines at the Madison Square Garden. He is undefeated in 44 fights, with 38 of them coming via KO. With that in mind, one can just imagine how he is determined to add the 33-year-old Segura to that mix and be KO victim number 45.

Of course, “Chocolatito” cannot take Segura for granted since such could be crucial on his end.

"All my opponents are a threat because they have gloves and two hands in the ring. There is no small opponent. They are all good and I cannot be overconfident against any of them," explains Gonzalez via Boxingscene.com.

Other than Segura, Gonzalez also has some other fighters in mind. That includes WCB flyweight champion Carlos Cuadras, who could see him waving the title and making him a four-division world champion. Both of them are incidentally handled by Akihiko Honda of Teiken Promotions.

Right now, those are “Chocolatito’s” options, with Segura at the forefront. Though that March 5 bout was nixed, a new one should be out soon, with Gonzalez obviously prepared for anything and anyone.
