Amir Khan’s name is not really the one that sounds the loudest if one is to figure out who Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao will eventually choose as his final opponent for April 9, 2016 but it seems that the Briton is prepared for it.

Seeing that his chances aren’t exactly rosy when he was first mentioned as a possible opponent, Khan and handler Eddie Hearn are cooking up something (probably an alternative) just in case he gets shunned yet again.

This is of course with reference to the word that Kell Brook is now the target of the Khan camp via the Telegraph. Though nothing has been finalized for now, it seems Hearn is adamant that a fight between the two British boxers will happen on June 4 at the Wembley Stadium.

“We’re talking. I’ve sent through the figures for a proposed bout on June 4 at Wembley and I think it will happen,” says Hearn via Boxing News Online.

The tiff is expected to be equally big and something that could be rich for both fighters. It is one fight that many had wanted to see though Khan was the one who preferred not to face his fellow countryman.

Earlier this year, Khan went as far as to tell Brook to fight big-name fighters to build a following. Though Khan did not completely close the doors on a possible fight with Brook, it was previously not on his list of priorities.

However, all that may have now changed as Khan stands to be shunned a second time. His name was also at the forefront of the Floyd Mayweather Jr. September fight but was eventually passed over in favor of Andre Berto.

Lighting could strike twice though Khan is reportedly not completely closing the door.

Khan was originally among the shortlisted candidates that include Terence Crawford and Timothy Bradley Jr.

While Khan has an alternative in mind, Crawford may be unavailable since he is set to defend his title in February. This would make it hard for Crawford to prepare for the April 9 fight just in case Pacquiao and company pick him.

Timothy Bradley Jr. is looming as the likely opponent though he too was not that awed of having a third fight with Pacquiao. Bradley made it known that he would love to face Miguel Cotto instead.

A fourth name has unofficially been inserted in the mix - Adrien Broner. After Michael Koncz admitted touching base with the Floyd Mayweather Jr. protégé, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum denied the rumors and said that a Pacquiao vs. Broner fight was out of the cards via  boxingscene.com.
