Many companies decided to bank on the current hype surrounding “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” by introducing elements in the film in their own products. The new “Fallout 4” mod recently allowed gamers to battle using lightsabers.

ScreenRant reported that “Fallout 4” does not actually have the official mod tool support from game developer Bethesda, but gamers have found a way to add new content, particularly the famous Jedi weapon. User invalidfate recently came up with a mod, called “Lightsaber Renew,” for the open-world RPG. As a result, players can fight robots, wasteland creatures and Super Mutants using various-colored lightsabers from the movie franchise. The weapon comes with the distinctive sound effects too. The color choices include red, blue, green and pink.

Kotaku featured a couple of videos showing the characters in action with their lightsabers. User Chayification provided some tips for gamers on how to activate the mod during the game. Gamers who already tried the new mod reported how fun it is to hack and slash opponents with the popular weapon, especially with the unique sound effects.

The mod is already available for download for PC only. It is expected to be released for other gaming consoles in the near future. More mod support will be available for console game versions in 2016, but Bethesda has not yet provided details on which mods will become available or how these will be selected. Mod support is available only through Bethesda.net, and not via the usual Steam Workshop. Console gamers may be provided with the same access as PC players to acquire specific mods and not only those that were chosen by the developer, based on the same ScreenRant report.

The latest version of “Lightsaber Renew” is 0.91. It currently has 635 endorsements and over 21,000 gamers have downloaded the mod so far. Fans are looking forward to see more items from “The Force Awakens,” such as Vader or Kylo Ren’s helmet, Stormtrooper helmet and armor and even a replica of the Millenium Falcon, among others. Considering how the “Star Wars” franchise plans to release a new movie every year, there will most likely be mods and related in-game bonuses in the future.

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” officially hit theaters on Dec. 18, 2015, while “Fallout 4” released on Nov. 4, 2015 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. More updates and details on “Lightsaber Renew” will be available soon.
