“NBA 2K16” recently collaborated with Marvel to come up with a unique way to dress up athletes on the basketball court. Gamers may now change the way their created players appear during the game by letting them wear Marvel superhero gear.
“Excited to announce partnership w/ @Marvel ft. apparel of your fav Super Heroes! #BeTheStory in #NBA2K16MyPLAYER,” NBA2K tweeted.
Tech Times noted that with the new partnership, “NBA 2K15” users can dress up their created players in Marvel costumes, so that they look like Captain America, Iron Man, Punisher, Spider-Man, Venom, Hydra and other Avengers members, among several others. The Marvel apparel will be offered in the 2K Sports Store, starting on Dec. 3, 2015.
Harrison Barnes of the Golden State Warriors is apparently a huge Marvel fan and seemed to be very excited with the new feature. NBA 2K selected Barnes to announce part of the new in-game feature. The game developer provided him with a screenshot of his animated self, wearing a Captain America suit without the mask.

The costume-changing can be done in MyPlayer Mode on “NBA 2K16.” Players can choose from a wide array of apparel inspired by Marvel superheroes, such as hoodies, t-shirts, basketball shirts and more, International Business Times wrote. It appears that only created characters may be modified to wear the new suits. Regular NBA stars in the game may still be required to wear their team jerseys.
Marvel fans will definitely be thrilled about the new option. It may also be a way for 2K Sports to bring in new gamers from other fields of interest. If the collaboration proves to be effective, 2K Sports might consider venturing with other popular superhero companies like DC.
Venture Capital Post revealed that aside from the colorful Marvel superhero gear, there will be more in store for “NBA 2K16” players for the holiday season. There will be big discounts on all MyPlayer Team Gear, free VC, unlocked legendary NBA stars and new locker codes.
Gamers can get a discount of 30 percent on all MyPlayer team gear. The promo will be available only for a limited period. New locker codes are available so players can acquire up to 1,000 free VC to unlock great items and superstars like LeBron James, Michael Jordan, Isaiah Thomas, Shaquille O’Neal, Stephen Curry, Larry Bird and Karl Malone, among others.
