The new Android 6.0 Marshmallow will reportedly start rolling out on the Sony Xperia Z5 series, Moto X Pure Edition and Samsung Galaxy S6. The update is said to arrive in devices in December 2015 and January 2016.

AndroidGeeks reported that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow will start to arrive on the Sony Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Premium in January 2016. It will be rolled out in stages, so users will receive a notification at different times. The unlocked variants will be the first to get the update, while carrier variants will follow, since operators will still thoroughly check the new updates before providing these to users over the air (OTA). Older Sony handsets may receive the Android Marshmallow, although at a later time.

As for the Moto X Pure Edition, ZDNet reported that the software update is currently in a limited soak test status. If the results turn out good, the Android Marshmallow will become available to handsets before the end of 2015. Motorola Mobility Director David Shuster announced on Google+ that they will proceed to fully launching the OS on the 2015 Moto X Pure Edition (3rd Gen) in the United States if the soak test renders successful results.

NDTV revealed that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow may also start rolling out on the Samsung Galaxy S6 in January 2016. A number of screenshots appeared on the internet, showing the flagship model running on the new OS. The images allegedly had the S6 operating on the new Android update with the new TouchWiz UI design. The software update will reportedly also launch on the Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy Note 5. The Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge are said to also receive the update in February.

More devices are expected to get the Android update early in 2016. International Business Times reported that the update has rolled out in some handsets such as the LG G4, Moto X (Gen 2) and Moto X Style. The HTC One M8 Google Play Edition also received the update recently. HTC One M9 users on carrier editions in the United States may have their OS update early in 2016, while HTC One M8 and M9 users may get it earlier before the year ends.

Android Marshmallow features several tweaks, features and enhancements that will improve overall user experience. Included in the list are Doze, Google Now on Tap, Deep Linking, more granular app permissions, internal storage improvements and additional security measures, among others.
