Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates have begun rolling out on Google's own Nexus devices, as well as other mobiles such as the LG G4, V10 and G3.

While other mobile companies have announced their Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates, Samsung has not yet made any official announcements as to which Galaxy S series will be included in its updates. However, if the South Korean company follows suit with their previous policy on updates, the Galaxy S4 will likely not have the Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

As such, senior members of the XDA Developer Forum decided to create their very own Samsung Galaxy S4 compatible, Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, which has reportedly been based on Cyanogen Mod CM13 Custom ROM firmware.

According to Neurogadget, Samsung Galaxy S4 mobiles with the model numbers GT-I9505 can make their Marshmallow update on their own using the following steps:

WARNING: THIS ANDROID 6.0 MARSHMALLOW UPDATE FOR THE SAMSUNG GALAXY S4 (MODEL NUMBER S4 GT-I9505 INTERNATIONAL LTE MODELS ONLY) IS CUSTOM-MADE, MEANING THE FIRMWARE WAS NOT ORIGINALLY RELEASED BY GOOGLE OR SAMSUNG. IT WILL REPORTEDLY NEED CUSTOM RECOVERY INSTALLED FIRST IN THE DEVICE BEFORE FLASHING THE ROM. IF INSTALLED IN OTHER GALAXY S4 VARIANTS, OR ANY OTHER DEVICE, THE ROM COULD BREAK YOUR DEVICE.

  •  Proceed only if your phone is a Samsung Galaxy S4, with model number "GT-I9505," which is an international LTE model.
  •  Proceed only if your Samsung Galaxy S4 mobile device has at least 80 percent battery power. This is required to avoid power failure during installation.
  •  Proceed only if your Samsung Galaxy S4 is rooted and that it has the latest ClockworkMod recovery installed.
  •  Proceed only if your Samsung Galaxy S4 USB drivers are installed on a PC.
  •  Backup all your data, additional files and apps. (Note: The installation process of the custom ROM will completely erase all memory in your device.

As for the LG G4 Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, the company has reportedly already released a beta version in Poland. In addition, other devices such as the LG-F500K, LG-F500L and LG-F500S have also been made available in Poland.

According to a previous Neurogadget report, the LG G4's international models like the LG-H810, LG-H815, and LG-H818, will also be getting the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in coming weeks.

The Android M update has a host of new features that smartphone users will find convenient. These include a new ability of the phone to turn off all running background apps to prevent the batteries from dying out. It will also keep the mobile from overusing data when the LG G4 is in idle mode.
