Just a few days ago, fans of "Game of Thrones: A Telltale Game Series" saw the season one finale with the game's episode six titled "The Ice Dragon." However, as it turns out, there are still more to come from the video game adaptation of HBO's award-winning drama.
In an exclusive interview by The Hollywood Reporter, Telltale's CEO and Co-founder Kevin Bruner confirmed that the second season for Telltale's "Game of Thrones" series is already in development and it has been planned all along since the game's initial release back in 2014.
"When we initially announced the series in 2013, we let everyone know this would be a multi-title, multiyear partnership with HBO. After this week's finale, I'm pleased to officially confirm that there will be a second season of Telltale's Game of Thrones series and that it's currently in development," Bruner told THR.
The Telltale CEO did not divulge any more detail regarding the season 2 release, its length, which character survived, and which character will the game follow will the game follow. He, however, confirmed that the decisions players made in the first season will have effects in the events of season 2.
Moreover, although Bruner did not specify how long fans have to wait for the "Game of Thrones" second season, he hinted that their approach in developing the game is "much more like television" as compared to the approach taken by other game developers.
"The development process at Telltale spends a significant amount of time upfront in the writer's rooms not just with writers, but designers, directors and creative input from all across the studio. It's not unusual for our games to exist longer on whiteboards and sticky notes and in scripts than they do in traditional game production," Bruner furthered in the interview.
According to Game Rant, the return of Telltale's game series for "Game of Thrones" is not that surprising given that the contract between HBO and Telltale includes a "multi-year" and "multi-title" partnership. Hence, the gaming news outlet also speculated that the partnership between the two might not only be limited to developing to the "Game of Thrones" but might also include other HBO shows such as "Deadwood" and "The Wire."
As of present time, no specific date for the second season of "Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series" has been announced. However, while waiting, players can enjoy the first season of the game which is already available for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC, and other mobile device.
