It's nearly time for the Latin Music industry's biggest night in music. The 16th Latin Grammy's are around the corner and it is looking to be a very special "fiesta."

The evening before the awards show, music legend Roberto Carlos will be honored with the "Person of the Year Award" at the Latin Grammy's Pre-Gala Dinner. The esteemed award will recognize his "important artistic and social contributions to Latin music and culture."

"To speak of Brazil is to speak of Robert Carlos," said President/CEO of The Latin Recording Academy. " It is with great pride that we honor such a musical treasure and we look forward to celebrating his career and his indelible musical legacy."

Rightfully so! The Brazilian musician is the "top selling Brazilian and Latin American act" recalls Billboard.

Colleagues performing in his honor are Romeo Santos, Carlos Vives, Dionne Warwick and Alejandro Sanz, Jesse & Joy, Camila and Victor Manuelle at the Mandalay Bay on Nov. 18.

At age 74 Carlos will join Miguel Bosé, Plácido Domingo, Gloria Estefan, Vicente Fernández, Juan Luis Guerra, Carlos Santana, Joan Manuel Serrat, Shakira, and other major recording artists as the recipient of the Person of the Year Award.

The 16th Latin Grammy Awards will be held the following night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Some of the this year's top contenders are Leonel García with six nominations, followed by Natalia Lafourcade with five. Juan Luis Guerra and Alejandro Sanz; engineers Edgar Barrera, Demián Nava, and Alan Saucedo; and producer Cachorro López each come in at four nominations.
