Captain Rex and a group of clone troopers are set to make their triumphant return in "Star Wars: Rebels" season 2.

Comic Book Resources reports that these clones are indeed the same clones that served alongside Ahsoka Tona during the clones wars. Not everyone is happy to see the clones though, as Kanan still harbors resentment towards them. The main reason could be that Kanan has been confirmed as a survivor of Order 66, and he was there when the clone troopers gunned down his Jedi Master Depa Billaba.

However, according to Screen Crush, Rex and his troop of clones did not partake in the execution of Order 66 and have been on the run from the Galactic Empire ever since. How Rex was able to disobey Order 66 and survive all these years has yet to be revealed. Fans of the show are hopeful that "Star Wars: Rebels" will be able explain how this happened.

For those who are not familiar with Order 66, it was an order given by Emperor Palpatine during the Clone War near the end of the "Revenge of the Sith" movie. The order was to kill every Jedi that the clone troopers could kill on sight, and since the clones had a chip implanted in their brains to follow any order given to them without hesitation, many Jedi died as a result.

As fans already know, Order 66 was the start of the great Jedi purge wherein almost 90 percent of all the universe's Jedi were killed in a matter of hours, while many other surviving Jedi were hunted down by the Sith Lord, Darth Vader.

Commander Rex will be accompanied by two other clone troopers, Wolffe and Gregor. Wolffe serves as the team's strongman, mainly dealing with heavy arms such as rocket launchers and mini-guns, while Gregor serves as the wildcard of the team. It seems that sometime before the end of the clone wars, Gregor became crazy. Although he was a distinguished solider who gained the rank of Captain at one time, Gregor now acts and fights in manner that wasn't programmed into him.

With the help of the clones and the new edition of Ashoka to the team, the crew of the Ghost looks to fight the good fight against the Galactic Empire. However, the Empire has its own plan for the Rebels, and looks to crush all those who oppose it.

"Star Wars: Rebels" season 2 premieres on Oct. 14.
