"Captain America: Civil War" is being set to be the biggest film in Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, fans of the comics are privy to information that might change the landscape of the MCU.

Warning: The following article might contain spoilers please be advised.

In the original Marvel story line, Captain America loses at the end of Civil War when he realizes the damage it is causing to the citizens of New York. While being escorted to stand trial, he is supposedly killed by Crossbones, and his long-time sidekick Bucky Barnes takes up the mantle of the Star Spangled Avenger. However, in more recent story lines, Steve Rogers regained the mantle and then subsequently retired, allowing his other long-time sidekick Sam Wilson, aka the Falcon, to become the new Captain America.

So what does this mean for the MCU? As of right now, fans are unaware on what will happen at the end of "Captain America: Civil War," but at Salt Lake City Comic Con, Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie sat down with fans to answer that particular question.

According to Super Hero Hype, Mackie downplayed the possibility that Captain America may actually die at the end of the movie. Mackie stated that he believes that Evans should not be replaced and that he is doing a great job as his character, and that if Stan would become the next Captain America, then fans wouldn't have the Bucky character anymore.

However, according to Digital Spy, when asked the same question, Stan was more aggressive, stating that he would love to be the next Captain America and that his co-star Mackie becoming Cap would feel like Biff from "Back to the Future II." Stan also went on to say that he did pick up on Marvel's hint at his potential time as The First Avenger when he picked up the iconic shield in "Captain America: Winter Soldier."

Chronologically, it would make more sense for Stan to become Captain America should something happen to Chris Evans in the next Captain America film, since it was Steve Rogers' last wish to see the mantle be passed to Bucky.

All three actors will be part of Captain America's team in the upcoming "Captain America: Civil War" movie. They will be joined by Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Scarlet Witch (Elizbeth Olsen). They will be squared off against Iron Man's team, which consists of War Machine (Don Cheadle), Vision (Paul Bettany), Ant Man (Paul Rudd) and Spiderman (Tom Holland).

"Captain America: Civil War" is set for release on May 6, 2016.
