"Doctor Who," featuring the fans' well beloved, time-traveling humanoid alien, is set to be back for its ninth season, and although many details are already revealed, BBC has teased on what else to expect with the release of the first episode's trailer.

According to Screen Rant, the teaser for the first episode titled "The Magician's Apprentice" clearly revealed that the Doctor (Peter Capaldi) is missing, as his human companion Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman) kept looking for him.

The 21-second trailer also showed Doctor's main nemesis Missy (Michelle Gomez), who is the reincarnation of The Master, as well as a confession dial, the last will and testament of the Doctor and a gladiator fight at the end.

Additionally, the outlet provided the synopsis of the premiere, which goes:

"Where is the Doctor? When the skies of Earth are frozen by a mysterious alien force, Clara needs her friend. But where is the Doctor, and what is he hiding from? As past deeds come back to haunt him, old enemies will come face-to-face, and for the Doctor and Clara survival seems impossible."

Screen Rant highlighted that the teaser, combined with the given synopsis, clearly show that the Doctor will be facing a dark time in the beginning of the series' ninth season.

On the other hand, it is thought that the Doctor's murdering of a child is indeed true -- specially that the teaser hinted that the he will come in contact with a young Dravos, the creator of Daleks -- the Doctor's most dangerous enemy.

Thus, if the storyline goes as rumored, the Doctor will be placed in a tough situation of choosing whether to kill the child and potentially save many people's lives.

While nothing is certain yet, fans can expect something horrible to happen given that Capaldi recently revealed to Entertainment Weekly that his character will be in a "conflict central to his being" and is "about to make a mistake that has cataclysmic repercussion."

Capaldi emphasized that there will be "great new villains, brilliant old ones, and some very scary creatures" in the series, while earlier reports also revealed that Alex Kingston will appear as River Song, as well as "Game of Thrones" star Maisie Williams in a reportedly new character.

"Doctor Who" will air on September 19, 2015 on BBC America.
