A new bar in Australia featured naked women as fruit flatters in an attempt to draw publicity. However, the response from the public was not positive at all.

The newly opened Circular Quay Cruise Bar in Sydney hosted a tropical-themed party for their opening night. They posted several photos of the naked women lying on long tables and covered in fruit. The women were topless and only allowed to wear skimpy skin-toned underwear. There were several tropical fruits laid out on the tables and a couple of chocolate fountains in the middle. Some of the passengers aboard the ship-style bar were even handfed fruit by some of the naked ladies. People have started to urge others to boycott the venue because of the controversial display. The popular venue is at the Overseas Passenger Terminal and the event happened on Wednesday, August 26, 2015.

Cruise Bar wrote on their Facebook page, “Amazing night to officially launch to the public. More pics to come tomorrow!” However, several people posted their disappointment and outrage over the establishment objectifying women. There were also semi-nude male models that graced the opening party, but critics cited that they were not discriminated in the same manner as the female models, Telegraph reported.

“They (the male models) weren't lying on their backs like slabs of meat being offered to the public. And if they were, it'd be just as disgusting. It's not the nudity. It's the objectification of the human body, and for either gender, it's sickening,” Nora Fries wrote.

“Thanks Cruise Bar for so openly showing your contempt for women and contributing to the disgusting view that women's bodies are just a utensil. I won't be coming to your venue when I'm looking for a night out,” Jane Oakley wrote.

“Are you out of your minds? Serving food on women's bodies is not only tasteless but is also promoting a culture where women are objectified. This is the 21st century and it is NOT ok,” another user posted.

News.com revealed that Myer ambassador Kate Peck was also at the launch and tweeted the she needed to dress some of the women.

Many social media users pointed out how the same approach of eating off the bodies of women was done in brothels. It was appalling and demeaning at the same time, regardless of whether the model was male or female.

Cruise Bar has yet to comment on the recent issue.
