Amir Khan may have missed out on Floyd Mayweather Jr. and much of that was blamed on the British boxer’s constant yapping that apparently did not sit well with the Mayweather camp.

Such was singled out as the main reason why Khan bombed out yet again, the third time, against Mayweather and now Khan is left to ponder on who to fight next.

That opponent could be Filipino boxer Manny Paccquiao though it can only materialize by 2016. This isn’t the first time that talks about a possible Pacquiao-Khan tiff is in the air.

Before Pacquiao ended up facing Mayweather last May, the two camps were already in talks about a possible fight in Dubai.

All that failed to materialize when Mayweather agreed to fight Pacquiao last May 2, 2015 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. And as everyone knows, Mayweather outboxed Pacquiao that day despite claims of the Filipino boxer that he had fought with an injured shoulder.

Khan settled to face Chris Algieri instead on May 29 which he won via unanimous decision. It was after that fight that many felt that Khan would be fit to face Mayweather in his farewell September fight.

Alas, it never happened and now Khan is seemingly diverting his attention to Pacquiao.

"This kid Amir Khan keeps shooting his mouth off about Manny Pacquiao. I can arrange for Khan to fight Pacquiao," Arum told Daily Telegraph.

So in a way, Khan seems to be talking a lot the way he did against Mayweather but apparently Arum is not going to back down and avoid the challenge. In fact, Arum is open to holding the fight of the two former sparring mates but it will likely be by 2016.

"One thing's for sure, Pacquiao is not ducking Khan. Pacquiao will fight him. I don't know if Khan will fight Pacquiao, but it's available."

The two camps could be sitting down soon in what could very well be a continuation of earlier talks about a possible fight in Dubai.

The two boxers had already met in London back in January and both camps already had preliminary talks.

And now those plans could very well become a reality though it may take some time to cook up.

Pacquiao is currently on the road to recovery after undergoing surgery on his right shoulder.

The Filipino boxing icon is currently undergoing rehabilitation for his recently operated shoulder and the earliest that Pacquiao could be back in the ring is by the first quarter of 2016.

Could Khan be his first opponent by then?
