"Star Wars: Battlefront 3" is slated to be released in December 2015 as a holiday gift to fans and a lot are already talking about some of the things to expect in the upcoming game.

Master Herald reported that the game is developed by EA Digitial Illusion and will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. It is the third installation in the franchise.

The game is different from the first two "Star Wars: Battlefront", which were developed by Pandemic Studios and based on the battles in different "Star Wars" movies. The first version, "Star Wars: Battlefront", was launched on September 21, 2004 on the PlayStation 2, Xbox and PC. The second version, "Star Wars: Battlefront II", was launched on November 1, 2005 on the PlayStation 2, Xbox, PlayStation Portable and PC. The upcoming game had "2015 video game" added to set it apart from the other two.

On its official website, StarWars.ea.com, the developers described that "Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)" is created by DICE, which also made the award-winning Battlefield series. Gamers can expect to fight epic battles on familiar planets from the series and also advance through the ranks. Players can choose from two sides - the Rebellion or the evil galactic Empire. Other things to expect include being able to handle a variety of weapons and piloting combat vehicles such as the Speeder Bike, Snowspeeder and AT-ST.

USGamer also reported before that some of the battles might be reenactments of scenes from the original trilogy, with the Battle of Endor being one of the focal points of the new game.

The game was originally set to release in the summer of 2015 but EA decided to move it further to December to go with the official launch of the seventh film installment, "Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens". The movie is expected to release on December 18, 2015 so it is possible that EA might set the date for the game in the same manner or release a few days later.

Blake Jorgensen, chief financial officer of EA, confirmed that the upcoming video game will be a first-person shooter. It will be EA's major first-person shooter game for 2015, which also sets it apart from the other two games by Pandemic Studios. The first two were both third and first-person shooters. However, some gamers voiced out their concerns that they enjoyed the third-person mode in the previous games so EA should consider adding it to "Star Wars: Battlefront 3" too.
