Manchester United has decided to realign a new deal for their goalkeeper David De Gea after rumors of him being lured by Real Madrid rose, ESPN reports.

After his stellar performances during previous matches, De Gea has been getting hints from Real Madrid on a follow-up offer. Manchester United intervened even before any offer was made.

Manchester placed an offer of £50 million to the goalkeeper. It will be a 200,000 pounds-a-week offer to the Spaniard footballer just to secure his spot on the Old Trafford.

However, according to Daily Star, De Gea is not near to closing this deal. De Gea has not released any confirmation on the deal yet. But, it's the best time for him to reevaluate his career since he only has 18 months remaining on his contract with Manchester United.

De Gea was the subject of a swap deal over the weekend. The said deal would include De Gea transferring to Real Madrid over Gareth Bale. However, according to a poll conducted in Manchester United's Suppperters' Trust (MUST), 99 percent of their loyal fans would not prefer to replace De Gea with Bale, noted Mail Online.

A spokesperson from MUST said: "With this in mind it signals the challenge Ed Woodward [United's executive vice-chairman] and the Glazers have to get United's most popular player signed up on a new contract, before Real Madrid attempt to prise him away."

The 24-year-old player was mentioned by Manchester United's ace Juan Mata when they won the Saturday match over Queens Park Rangers FC at 2-0.

"QPR played their cards as we expected and they were also dangeroud when sending long balls to the attacking players, but David, once again, was a wall," said Mata.

Additionally, Mata commended his teammates and encouraged them to give their best if they want their team to reach the Championship League.

Team manager Louis vani Gaal only lost one of their 12 Premier League games.

But, Mata said that their win over the weekend "was even more important since all the teams in the top side of the table - except Manchester City - won their games."

Manchester United's next game is this coming Friday, Jan. 23, where De Gea is reportedly being rested to give way to Victor Valdes' debut.

Victor Valdes was a former player for Barcelona. He is currently under an 18-month contract with Manchester United.
