Cristiano Ronaldo's son, Cristiano Junior, is apparently a fan of his biggest rival, Argentine Lionel Messi.

In a video posted by Daily Mail, Ronaldo eased up and encouraged his son to walk up and talk to Messi just before the Ballon D'Or ceremony in Zurich, Switzerland started on January 12, 2015, where the two soccer superstars were nominees for "Player of the Year".

In the video, the men were in the lobby of Kongresshaus in their formal suits waiting for the big event to start. The Portuguese ace spoke to the younger Cristiano to urge him to go to Messi and introduce himself. Messi introduced himself immediately to Cristiano Junior, asking him how he is. The following scenes in the video showed the boy communicate with Messi while the latter bent down to show his enthusiasm in meeting him. The two exchanged words for a short while before the nervous boy promptly returned to his father.

Ronaldo laughed as his son sat by his side. "You are embarrassed now!" said the Portuguese superstar.

According to Ronaldo, his son claimed to be a fan of the Argentine after seeing him play on video. In a Yahoo Sports article, the Real Madrid captain told Messi, "He watches a video on the internet of all of us and he talks about you."

Yahoo Sports also reported that the younger Cristiano witnessed his father win over Messi, being named the 2014 Ballon D'Or Player of the Year. It was the third time that Ronaldo won the prestigious award, with Messi landing in second place in 2014. Messi has won the Ballon D'Or four times before. The two football greats have won the award every year since 2008. Ronaldo also won the award in 2013 while Messi won in 2012.

In another Daily Mail report, the two captains have been pitted against each other by fans through the years because of their stellar performances on the field. The two are currently the highest paid soccer players in the world and command a huge fan base. Currently, Ronaldo has 26 goals and nine assists while Messi has 16 goals and eight assists.

In the past season, Ronaldo broke the record by scoring 17 goals in the Champions League, leading his club to victory. On the other hand, there are talks that Messi might leave Barcelona to play in England, although there is no real confirmation yet as to what the star's plans will be in the next year.
