The iPhone 5 is finally out, but some consumers may find their excitement dampened by the avalanche of plans that phone carriers parade before them. In order to clear the confusion and make the process of choosing an iPhone 5 contract fit for our readers' budget, Latinos Post has collected the offerings of major carriers in both the US and the UK.

UK Carriers

O2

O2 offers unlimited minutes, texting, and 1GB of inclusive data for all of its two-year contracts - (US$ Dollars)

For £26/month ($33), the 16GB device costs £249.99 ($322), the 32GB £299.99 ($386), and the 64GB £399.99 ($515). 

For £31/month ($40), the 16GB device costs £199.99 ($257), the 32GB £249.99 ($322), and the 64GB £349.99 ($450).

For £36/month ($46), the 16GB device costs £99.99 ($129), the 32GB £199.99 ($257), and the 64GB £299.99 ($386).

Orange

Orange offers access to EE's 4G LTE connectivity, which will be off limits to O2 and Vodafone users.

US Carriers

Without a contract, the iPhone 5 16GB is priced at $649, the 32 at $749, and the 64 at $849. Subsidized by carriers, the price drops to $199.99, $299.99, and $399.99 for the respective sizes.

In terms of data plans, Verizon costs $40 to $150 per month, AT&T ranges from $100 to $245 a month, Sprint offers unlimited data for new subscribers, with plans ranging from $79.99 to $209.99. Cricket provids pre-paid service for $55 a month.

The iPhone 5 is made out of glass and aluminum, taking the helm as the thinnest and lightest iPhone ever, at 7.6mm. The new device is 18 percent thinner than the 4S, weighs 112 grams, has a 4-inch screen, displays at 1136 x 640 pixels with a 16 x 9 aspect ratio, and a 326 PPI Retina display. Apple also removed a layer from the display to make the touch sensors "sharper."

The iPhone 5 features LTE, HSPA+, and DC-HSDPA. LTE is available for Verizon, Sprint, and AT&T users in the US. The new Wi-Fi will be 2.4GHz, and 5Ghz on 802.11n.

The device sports the new A6 chip, and a new "Lightning adapter" to replace the traditional 30-pin connector.
