At least five young actresses are currently vying for a major role in the upcoming "Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales."

An exclusive report from Variety citing unnamed "sources" said that five young actresses will be put to test by Disney to determine who among them perfectly fits the role.

The young actresses reportedly in the movie's short list are Kaya Scodelario, known for her role in the movie adaptation of "The Maze Runner" and her part in the British TV series "Skins"; Lucy Boynton, who is known for "Miss Potter"; Alexandra Dowling, also known as Queen Anne in the BBC series "The Musketeers"; French actress Jenna Thiam; and Gabriella Wilde, known for the 2014 movie "Endless Love."

Variety said that it is still unknown what the role is but it is likely that the role will be a love interest to Brenton Thwaites who plays the role of a British soldier in the movie.

"The studio wanted to wait to make sure that role was sealed up before testing actresses, and now that Thwaites is on board, the studio will do chemistry tests with Thwaites and the actresses to see who best fits the role," Variety added.

The report also confirmed that Javier Bardem has already said yes and is now set to play as villain in the fifth "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie.

Two Deadline reports earlier suggested that Javier and Brenton will join the movie but did not give any details about their roles. These reports also speculated that Taron Egerton, George Mackay, Mitchell Hope, Ansel Elgort, and Sam Keeley might join the movie's cast list. However, it has not yet been confirmed.

Variety also confirmed that the movie will be directed by Norwegian film makers Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg. Jerry Bruckheimer, on the other hand, will be the producer.

British news site Daily Mail earlier reported that the filming of the fifth movie will start in February. Air Herald said the movie will be the "most expensive movie ever filmed in Australia." It added that the filming was set in said country as it has the largest water tank in the world. The report also alleged that the movie might be the final "Pirates of the Caribbean" film.

Johnny Depp will again play the role of Captain Jack Sparrow while Geoffrey Rush will play the role of Captain Hector Barbossa.

It is still not sure whether Orlando Bloom, who plays the role of pirate Will Turner, will be back in the fifth movie. But another Daily Mail report said that Bloom revealed that there were talks about his comeback. He even commented that he is okay with going back to the film.

According to Coming Soon, the movie is set to be released on July 7, 2017.
