The 2015 edition Sundance Film Festival promises to bring in the heat in the midst of winter at Park City in Utah as everyone's favorite 'Booty' singer Jennifer Lopez has confirmed her attendance to the event.
James Franco, Viola Davis, Ryan Reynolds and Jason Segel will also be joining J-Lo among the high-profile Hollywood actors who shall grace one of the largest independent film festivals in the US slated to run from January 22 to February 1, 2015, reports HitFix.
"There are always stars at the Sundance Film Festival. But today's Premieres announcements came saddled with at least one unexpected name: Jennifer Lopez. Yes, everyone's favorite "Booty" troller is going the prestige route once again with 'Lila & Eve'," details the report. The same report from HitFlix added that the film will supposedly be her latest "would-be" acting comeback.
J-Lo shares topbilling in the movie with two-time Oscar nominee Viola Davis, who is also expected to come to the 2015 Sundance Film Festival.
HitFix also pointed out that "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" star James Franco shall also be in the event for the premiere of "I am Michael," where he plays an 'ex-gay' LBGT activist who finds Jesus during his personal struggles.
Ryan Reynolds will also be around for the premiere showing of "Mississippi Grind" where he takes on the role of a gambler, and so is Jason Segel who will be playing the role of the late David Foster Wallace in "End of Tour," notes the report.
A total of 60 short films, including narrative, documentary, and animated movies, will be featured in the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. The final roster was selected from a total of 8,061 submissions, cites Variety.
There are a total of 29 narrative short films, 14 from the US and 15 coming from the international field, 18 documentary films, and 13 animated films.
The Carpetbagger notes that the 2015 Sundance Film Festival lineup includes high-profile documentaries including "The Hunting Ground" which explores sexual crime on college campuses and institutional cover-ups, and "Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief," among others.
YouTube, which is part of the event as major sponsor, will present the short film program that shall also include several workshops for independent filmmakers, the report added.
"This year's short filmmakers have broken through their limited timeframe with a high level of artistry and story that will resonate with audiences long after each film has ended," enthuses Mike Plante, senior programmer of the 2015 Sundance Film Festival.
