There are two things that college students love to have hand in hand, no matter how unhealthy: chips and soda. Unfortunately, eating chips can be unsanitary if the cheese powder sticks to your fingers all the time: licking it off and shoving the same saliva-covered fingers back to the bag can be disgusting, especially if you're sharing.

PepsiCo, which owns Mountain Dew and Frito-Lay, which owns Doritos, has confirmed that they have been testing a new drink on college campuses, and they are calling it "Dewitos," a Doritos flavored Mountain Dew soda, says the International Business Times.

According to Syracuse, com, the soda flavor was leaked on Reddit, with a user posting a photo of the orange drink at the tasting booth in one of the campuses around the US. It wasn't the only new flavor out to be tested: the Reddit user also said that they were taste-testing lemon ginger, mango habanero, and rainbow sherbet flavors.

The user described: "... It was like a weird mix of mountain dew flavor and Doritos. Like if you shoved a handful of Doritos in your mouth and chugged some dew at the same time."

A spokesperson for PepsiCo told The Huffington Post, "We are always testing out new flavors of Mountain Dew, and giving our fans a voice in helping decide on the next new product has always been important to us. We opened up the DEW flavor vault and gave students a chance to try this Doritos-inspired flavor as part of a small program at colleges and universities."

Although the booths are a recent addition to promote Dewitos, it is not the first: PepsiCo has also been extending its marketing to the gaming culture as it marketed its campaigns with the promotion of Microsoft's Xbox games. The company started printing special codes on Mountain Dew bottles and Doritos bags that can be used by gamers to unlock gear as well as increase experience points in the newly released "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare."

The Huffington Post also noted that this is not the first time PepsiCo experimented with both flavors, and linking the two brands together. The website said that the company released Doritos Quest in 2008, which is a sweet chip with a mystery flavor. The mystery was later uncovered as Mountain Dew.

The new cheesy soda is not available in stores yet, but it could be if feedback is good. According to Capital Wired, the Reddit user who tried Dewitos did not find the flavor appaling, saying that it "...wasn't that horrible. It flavored like orange having a doritos after taste. It flavored like straight doritos later on though. The strangest thing I've ever drunken."
