July 1 featured a number of exciting games for MLB fans. Some players made new records with their home runs while others did not have such a great day.

The Los Angeles Angels faced off against the Chicago White Sox. The Angels had a dominating win with a final score of 7-5. Ten Angels players contributed to the doubleheader sweep of the White Sox and won the first game 8-4. After their two wins, Los Angeles is only 3 1/2 games away in the AL West with Oakland staying solid at No. 1.

Joe Smith, reliever of the Angels, said, "We kept putting the pressure on. After you win that first game of a doubleheader, it's really hard to win two. You put those runs right up on them early, that was huge for us."

In a report by ESPN, Mike Scioscia, manager of the Los Angeles Angels said, "I think our guys on the offensive side have proven that they're going to pressure teams and get us runs. Our challenge is going to be able to hold leads and we were able to do it today in two games."

Mike Trout hit a three-run homer in the first game. Garrett Richards played well after giving three runs to their opponents. He moved up to 5-0 since May 30, 2014.

In the game featuring the Cleveland Indians against the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Indians had a stunning triple play feat during the fourth inning. The play resulted to 7-2-4 and was captured on video, which was very rare. There were runners on the first and third base. Adrian Gonzalez threw a fly ball to left field. Dee Gordon went up against Michael Brantley but Brantley caught him at the plate. Yasiel Puig Valdés, in the meantime, ran for second base but Yan Gomes got him. Valdés was initially ruled safe but it was held that Jason Kipnis tagged him before he reached base. The last triple play that Cleveland had was three years ago. Cleveland finished the game victorious with a final score of 10-3, according to CBS Sports.

In the July 1 game featuring the Astros against the Mariners, the Mariners completely crushed their opponents and ended the game with a final score of 10-4. It was their first game in a series of three. Taijuan Walker of the Mariners started well by striking out six, allowing three runs and walking two in six innings. Collin McHugh of the Astros struck out eight in six innings. At the start of the second inning, the game was tied but in the seventh inning, Robinson Cano hit a three-run homer to bring the game up to 8-3.
