The picture of a small boy gagged with adhesive tape and whose hands and feet were tied has caused great indignation in Mexico, mainly among social network users, where the controversial picture was originally uploaded.

During the weekend, Olga Zavala, the minor's grandmother, uploaded the cruel picture to her Facebook account, which shows the immobilized child crying, and immediately caused a strong reaction among users who expressed their indignation and rejection to what many described as child abuse.

"This is what Dominic gets for misbehaving," was was the alleged abusive grandmother said as the caption for the picture, which was not well-received by a large part of Mexican society, including the mayor of Mexico City, Miguel Ángel Mancera, who ordered an investigation to find out responsibilities and guarantee the integrity of the affected minor, according to Univisión.

"Derived from the exhibition on social networks of the picture of an abused minor and established by the commission of illicit conduct," the Capital's Prosecutor started an investigation which led to the arrest of Olga Zavala, according to Proceso.

According to the quoted source, during the night of Monday, May 26, the Cyber Police of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Federal District located the minor's grandmother, owner of the Facebook account which exhibited the child's picture, and immediately arrested her and presented the woman to the Public Ministry.

Dominic and his parents were also presented to the Central Investigations Prosecutor for Boys, Girls and Teenagers, where the boy had a medical check up to make sure he was fine. According to Univisión, it's expected that psychological tests will be made in the upcoming days to determine Dominic's health.

The minor's grandmother said that "it was just a game, just for a little while".
