A crash between two firetrucks headed towards a fire in Los Angeles left at least 15 people injured, one of them seriously, local media reported.

The incident took place on the afternoon of Wednesday, April 16, when a truck of the Monterey Park Fire Department apparently lost control and crashed against another truck from the city of Alhambra, east of Los Angeles, which also was going towards the fire, according to Reuters.

The same source detailed that one of the two trucks ended up inside a Lu Dumpling House, a popular Chinese restaurant.

According to Fox News, the accident left at least 15 people injured, six of them firemen and an one is reported as being in critical state due to their injuries.

Authorities confirmed that three or four people had minor to moderate injuries and that at least a dozen don't have any considerable injuries.

Wendy Wu, one of the waitresses in the walk-in freezer of the restaurant told Fox News that "there was a strong noise and the floor vibrated. I thought it was an earthquake."

After leaving the walk-in freezer, Wu found various people injured and bleeding, trying to stand up.

So far the details of the accident haven't been determined; however, Jim Birrel, chief of firemen of Monterey Park told the press that there is an on-going investigation to determine the causes of the incident.

Likewise, Birrel highlighted that both firetrucks were responding to an emergency call to fight a fire in a Los Angeles home when they crashed against each other at an intersection.

Nine of the 15 injured, including the person seriously injured, were taken to a nearby hospital.
