Pharrell Williams sat down for a one-hour interview with Oprah Winfrey where the "Happy" singer was seen shedding tears of joy. During Sunday's "Oprah Prime" interview carried by the OWN network, a touched Williams cried when he was shown a video montage of fans from all over the world singing to his hit song "Happy."

"I don't know why I'm crying!" said the musician as he wiped away his tears after watching the video. Oprah responded it made her cry as well reports People.

The singer-producer shares that the "Despicable Me 2" song "Happy" wasn't such a big success in the beginning. It was shared during the interview that the single had a slow-start after its release in June. "Zero airplay, nothing. And next thing you know we put the video on November 21st, all of a sudden, boom," reports MTV.

Pharrell has reportedly been on whirlwind ride for the last two years, notes People. Aside from marrying his long-time girlfriend Helen Lasichanh with whom he has a 4-year-old son, the musician has been blessed with a string of hit songs, Grammy success and an Oscar nomination for "Happy."

The "Blurred Lines" producer also revealed the unique inspiration for his son's name, Rocket, in the interview. "In the same way the Indians named their children after a force or animal or element, we named him after a man-made machine that was meant to go up, meant to ascend."

As for success in the music industry, the emotional singer remarked, "It's overwhelming because I love what I do and I just appreciate the fact that people have believed in me for so long, that I can make it to this point to feel that."

In the past, Pharrell has been the guy behind the music but is now adjusting to stepping out as the star. "I was happy being the guy standing next to the guy," he said. The music genius has collaborated with all of music's biggest names including Britney Spears, Gwen Steffani, Justin Timberlake, P. Diddy and Robin Thicke, to name a few.
