There's been a lot of debate on the hoped-for TV reunion of the 'Friends' cast. So much so that it's probably one of the most enduring "will-they-or-will-they-not" discussions in the history of TV sitcoms.

The fact that the show had a huge fanbase and a strong ensemble cast, involving plots that resonated with many audiences, was one big factor influencing the undying fascination with the sitcom. Another could be the never ending parade of hoaxes about a possible reunion. Even one of the show's stars was fooled by one last year.

According to TV Guide, Lisa Kudrow told late night show host Conan O'Brien in August 2013 that a fake graphic featuring the cast, plus an article that alleges NBC's confirmation of the reunion, misled her into thinking that 'Friends' was really going back on air.

But that was last year's prank.

This early in 2014, another hoax emerged touting the return of Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Joey, Chandler, and Ross to TV screens across America and beyond.

A poster showing individual, artfully cropped photos of the cast has been circulating in the World Wide Web, announcing of a reunion after a "10 year break."

The "prankster," noted Metro, probably thought the New Year was a perfect opportunity for spreading such a stunt.

In the days leading to the New Year, Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox were seen enjoying a Mexican getaway together, adding fuel to rumors of a possible reunion in 2014. It was alleged that Aniston was the last piece of the puzzle and that getting her to say yes to a 'Friends' reboot is the key to making it happen.

Last year, 'Friends' co-creator Marta Kauffman told E! Online that a TV revival of the hit sitcom is "not happening." Although her statement quashed reunion rumors, and many hopeful hearts, it has not discouraged continued speculation and generation of 'Friends' hoaxes.
