The Mother of Ted Mosby's kids has finally been revealed in the season 8 finale of How I Met Your Mother, but it does not mean that it's a smooth-sailing final season for the series. Especially if a run-in with an ex- is involved.

It has been confirmed by E! News that Ashley Williams, who played Victoria, Ted's on-again-off-again girlfriend from way back in season one, will have an appearance in the 19th episode of the season.

Ted and Victoria met at a wedding in season one, where they fell in love and had even tried to work out a long-distance relationship, until Ted cheated on her with Robin. They rekindled their relationship again in the eighth season, and Ted asked Victoria to marry him, but he refused to cut all ties with Robin when she asked him to, leading to their seemingly final breakup.

So the big question is why is Victoria returning to the show after that?

It is anyone's guess -- she could be crashing the wedding, or she may just appear in a flashback, or a flash forward -- but since Ted is supposed to finally meet and fall deeply in love with the mother, a reunion for Ted and Victoria may not be a possibility. Especially since the couple broke up for good when Ted refused to cut all ties with Robin after Victoria asked him to in season eight.

The episode, which is set to air on April, is still a ways down the road, so fans will have more or less four months to speculate about what Williams' return will mean for Ted and the gang.

Victoria isn't the first former character to appear on the show. According to Hollywood Life , "Bryan Cranston's return as Hammond Druthers was met with much fanfare - including a dramatic Twitter announcement by creator Carter Bays."

Williams may not be the last former star to appear, either. In an interview with William Keck from TV Guide, Bays confirmed that Bill Fagerbakke, who played Marshall's dad, will appear as a ghost, and the team is also trying to get back Lucy Hale, who played Robin's sister, Katie.

There are only a few episodes left before the end of the series, so for How I Met Your Mother fans, which former characters do you want to see again?
