Microsoft's Windows Phone and Google's Android smartphone platforms were in neck-and-neck competition in the most-growth figures in the smartphone operating system market share in France.
According to Kantar Worldpanel, Android and Windows Phone nearly tied for the highest percentage change between the three months ending in October 2012 and the same period this year.

In the end, Android edged ahead of the Microsoft smartphone operating system with 7.7 percent to 7.4 percent.
Android finished at first place in the French smartphone operating system market share with 68.1 percent, which is up from the 60.4 percent during the three months ending in October last year.
Apple's iOS placed second for another quarter despite losing 3.6 percentage points from last year. iOS finished the three months ending in October 2013 with 15.9 percent, which is down from the 19.5 percent last year.
Microsoft's smartphone operating system improved from fourth place last year to third place. Windows Phone nearly matched iOS but fell short with 12.5 percent, which is up healthily from the 5.1 percent it received last year.
BlackBerry fell from third to fourth place. The BlackBerry smartphone operating system encountered the highest market share percentage loss in Kantar Worldpanel's latest data with 3.8 percentage points. BlackBerry accounted for 2.6 percent by the time October 2013 concluded, which is down from the 6.4 percent last year.
