Joe Hart will continue on the bench when Manchester City takes on Sunderland on Sunday.

The English keeper has lost his starting position after years of poor performance and it does not seem like he will recover his position anytime soon.

"I'm not thinking about that," said City coach Manuel Pellegrini, according to ESPN. "I'm thinking about what is best for the team at this moment.

"And at this moment, I repeat, I will trust in [backup Costel] Pantilimon. But we continue to trust in Joe, and we will see when he can come back."

Hart was at fault for a poor goal in the 90th minute against Chelsea a few weeks back that ultimately forced Pellegrini's hand. He has remained on the bench for the last few games, including a 5-2 win over CSKA Moscow on Saturday. That game clinched a knockout round spot for Pellegrini and the Citizens.

Despite the positive news in the Champions League, the team sits six points behind first-place Arsenal in the Premier League.

"We are six points behind Arsenal. This Sunday, Arsenal play at Manchester United, which is a difficult game for both of them," said Pellegrini. "It's a chance for us to recover two or three points. We'll see what happens in that match."

Fortunately for City, it will be facing 19th place Sunderland. The team has only acquired four points this season and looks headed for relegation at the end of the campaign.

Prediction: Manchester City wins 2-0.

Start Time: 9 a.m. EST
