The bulk of of fall television is now in full swing, but make sure to save some room for the next course. The new season of “Justified” is still a couple months away and fans are already clawing at the producers feet for a Season 5 forecast. Well today is their lucky day.

Series star Walton Goggins told TV Guide that executive producer Graham Yost is treating the upcoming season as the beginning of an end. “We’re all looking at it as 26 episodes, not 13,” Goggins said. “I am looking at this as the longtail of my ‘Justified’ experience. We’re laying the groundwork for that.” Goggins hinted that the series won’t make it past the sixth season, but nothing has been confirmed.

When Season 5 picks up, Boyd Crowder (Goggins) will have to deal with the repercussions of his wife’s arrest in last season’s finale, a task that will prove more daunting than originally thought. “He’s angry and he feels impotent. If he can’t break through that glass ceiling, he’s going to shatter it with his bullets,” Goggins said. “He is in a place of volatility… that he’s never been before in his life, and he’s acting out in ways that I could not have foreseen.”

In Season 5, “Justified” will introduce and follow the exploits of the white trash crime family, led by the ruthless and handsome Dale. On the books, the Crowes run a gator farm, but as “Justified” fans should expect, their real dealings involve drugs and murder. Alongside Dale are his sister Wendy, the public face of the family, and his younger brother Danny, a romantic sociopath, an interesting dynamic that should make for an exciting season.

“Justified” will return to FX in January.
