Halloweed is right around the corner. Ghouls and ghosts scour the streets, Jack o'lanterns light up ominous stoops and the season’s most revered monsters climb out from underneath their rocks. The Boogey Man, Dracula, the WereWolf, and Beetlejuice.

Yes. Beetlejuice is back. Director Tim Burton is currently in talks to film a sequel to the 1988 cult fantasy movie, “Beetlejuice,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. Warner Bros. has offered Burton the position along with producer David Geffen, but has yet to read the latest draft of the script, written by Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg. Grahame-Smith penned Burton’s “Dark Shadows” and “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.”

It’s currently unclear whether or not Michael Keaton will reprise his role of the charismatic ghost, but he might not be the image Warner Bros. is striving for. It would be touching to see his Beetlejuice up on the big screen once again, but the studio could be gunning for a younger, more modern feel. Only time will tell.

In the original 1998 film, Keaton played the titular character, who is summoned from the underworld whenever his name is stated three time in a row. The horror comedy also starred Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis as a recently deceased couple who haunt their former home. With Beetlejuice by their side, they try to scare away its current residents.

Beetlejuice is making his return. Halloween just got spookier.
