On the latest episode of "The Mentalist," the CBI team went to two weddings, but one was more red than white.

On the latest episode, "Wedding in Red," Van Pelt (Amanda Righetti) and Rigsby (Owain Yeoman) finally tied the knot, while another wedding was interrupted due the murder of one of the wedding guests. Executive producer Daniel Cerone spoke to TVLine about the episode, and revealed if one Red John suspect was crossed off the dwindling list.

Cerone shared that the easiest part of the filming the episode was the wedding scene between Rigsby and Van Pelt. "The wedding aspect of the show was the easiest part because it was the most honest part," Cerone shared. "It's something that we've been building to for a long time, so there were a lot of authentic emotions to explore."

But it was also tough in some respects. "It was a big episode in three aspects. One is the wedding," Cerone noted. "Two, it's the first time that we really explore a singular Red John suspect in full detail, and that provides tension. And then of course we have a case."

Cerone said that it was wonderful to finally give fans the satisfaction of seeing one of their favorite couples get hitched. "The fans deserved a nice payoff, particularly those that have been with the show since the beginning," he said. "Since the pilot, there was a romantic attraction between Rigsby and Van Pelt, and there have been many, many ups and downs through the years - psychopathic fiancés who ended up with bullets in their heads and baby mamas. It's been a pretty wild ride for them!"

But the episode wasn't all happy tears of joy. The other wedding--the wedding of a young couple in Napa-- elicited tears of fear after one of the guests was murdered. Jane (Simon Baker) realized that to track down the killer, the wedding would have to be put back together, and that is why Jane told Van Pelt to talk the bride into getting married, all while Rigsby looked on through the one-way glass. "Amanda [Righetti] just crushed that scene," Cerone said.

The big question remains: can Sheriff McAllister be ruled out as a potential Red John suspect because he doesn't suffer from vertigo, or is no one being ruled out yet? "In a certain respect, suspects will fall to the wayside quickly, Cerone explained. "Some have, and some will continue to. But if they're still inquiring at the end of an episode, they're still in part potential suspects."

Next Sunday, Homeland Security agent Robert Kirkland will be the main focus of Jane and Lisbon (Robin Tunney). The synopsis for the next episode, "Red Listed," reads: "Jane reveals that a list of fake Red John suspects he planted was stolen, and the team realizes these men are in danger."

TVGuide also confirms that the plot between Bertram, McCallister and Smith will go beyond the Red John case. "The CBI goes through its own sort of institutional crisis," series creator Bruno Heller teased. "The walls are crumbling around them as they are trying to solve this big final mystery. Bertram is both a prime suspect as Red John, but also deeply involved in that other plot." He also said that new cast members Emily Swallow and Rockmond Dunbar will figure into that storyline, which will be the main focus after Red John is caught.
