The last season of “How I Met Your Mother” is well underway. It’s the final chance to relive all those special moments shared with the gang, but most importantly, it’s the only chance to see the coveted Mother introduce herself to each character one by one over the course of Barney and Robin’s wedding weekend. At least that’s what’s supposed to happen. Instead, the Mother has not played as pivotal of a role as we expected.

In fact, the Mother has been seldom seen all season long. She only appeared in the premiere episode. So if this final season revolves around her introduction to the gang, where is she? While TVLine is wary to reveal when she’ll be returning, it does assure fans that “every appearance by the Mother (played by Cristin Milioti) will carry with it a significance, large or at least medium. In fact, the next time we see her… it’ll sneak up on you and be quite a crowd pleasing moment.”

That’s reassuring, but we want more, and we want it now. The final chapter has begun. Time is dwindling down to a narrow stub. The character we’ve all been waiting for is now hiding in the shadows, preparing for her next strike, which adds to her elusive character, but with only a small bundle of episodes remaining, we want to get to know her. Afterall, the entire show has been based on her identity. It’s only fitting that fans get to discover who she is before the series’ close.

But they’ll have to settle. She will pop up when appropriate, adding to the climatic and unique introduction to each character. Her introductory sequence with Robin will be particularly intriguing, according to Milioti.

“I am very much looking forward to when the Mother meets Robin,” she said. “That is going to be such an epic meeting. It would depend on what I was watching. Certain ones, I was like, ‘Aww, what’s it going to be like when she meets Barney? Are they going to sing together?’"

“How I Met Your Mother” airs Monday nights on CBS.
