With the government shutdown, where will we get our daily dose of political debauchery? No worries. The hit series “Scandal” has got it covered.

While the Season 3 drama will focus on the recently exposed affair between Olivia Pope and the president, there are other characters that are equally as pivotal to the show. While the cast fully agrees that this is one of the biggest scandals in the show's history, it carries serious ramifications for not only Olivia, but for her entire team, especially Cyrus (Jeff Perry).

According to Perry, when his character discovers the truth "somewhere in the first couple episodes, Cyrus is transported to a very ominous location for a very ominous meeting in a trunk of a car,” a potential scandal in its own, TV Guide reports.

In last night’s premiere, Cyrus tempts his husband James to give up information on who leaked Olivia’s name to the press in return for “scoop.” And speaking of Cyrus and James, fans may recall that Cyrus hired Charlie to kill Amanda Tanner back in the first season, and now it’s time to close the door on what should have been a much more pressing issue. If it does resurface, however, don’t expect James to run from his husband.

“There’s a lot about what my husband is capable of that I don’t know,” Dan Bucatinsky said. “But I feel like on some level James knew exactly what he was getting into — maybe not to that extent, but I think there’s a lot more to James than meets the eye in terms of raw ambition, not just to be a parent, but to succeed in Washington.”

“Scandal” airs Thursday nights on ABC.
