The ninth and final season of “How I Met Your Mother” is underway. With every passing week, the the gang’s final moments together slowly dwindle down. It’s a tragic farewell, but one that should be cherished and celebrated in all its glory. “How I Met Your Mother” will go down as one of the greatest comedy sitcoms of all down, so let’s send it off with a bang.
It doesn’t hurt that this final season will be the most riveting yet. The gang is introduced the coveted mother one by one over the course of Robin and Barney’s long awaited and perpetually flawed wedding weekend. The show has teased at their marriage in the past, but the couple has failed time and time again to tie the knot. And as Season 9 hints already, this time around may not be any different.
Now that fans know that Barney saw Ted and Robin rendezvous by the carousel, they’re curious as to how it will affect the ill fated wedding. It’s got to throw a major wrench in the weekend, right? Well according to TV Guide, it’s not as bad as it looks.
Executive producer Carter Bays said that the incident is nothing more than one of the few “hiccups” the two experience along the path to tying the knot and will be resolved quickly. “Ultimately, Barney and Robin are in love. I wouldn’t worry about them being tested,” Bays said. “It’s their wedding weekend. They’ve passed the test.”
So is Bays hinting at holy matrimony? Will the couple finally make it down the aisle? And even then, will cold feet spoil the wedding once again? We’ll just have to wait and see.
