American department store Macy's has joined the Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations which will take place from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15.

The prestigious brand will join Mexican magazine Vanidades, one of the most popular Spanish language women's lifestyle magazines, to pay homage to the contributions of Hispanic women to fashion.

According to newspaper La Opinión, the store has lined up a series of events in the United States. Aside from celebrating the cultural influence of the Latino community in America, the department store will also pay homage to two Latino international stars who have been named "Macy's style icons" this year.

The stars are singer, actress, writer and fashion designer Thalía and preschool Nickelodeon cartoon heroine, Dora the Explorer.

"Macy's recognizes and values the vast patrimony and influence that Latinos have contributed to our nations, not just in fashion, but also in music, food and all cultural aspects," Dineed Garcia, Macy's VP of Diversity Strategies commented.

"By celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, Macy's is proud to conmemorate said contributions with great special events in stores accross the country and to homage our two style icons: influential superstar, style and music creator Thalía, and cartoon heroine Dora the Explorer," Garcia added.

"It's an honor to know that Macy's chose me as the 2013 icon of style. To be acknowledged as the Latino style icon means a lot to me, and I'm very thankful to Macy's for everything they do to promote Hispanic heritage. I'm proud of my culture and I think it shows in everything I do: in the passion I feel for my family, my music, my writings and my personal style. I hope to always inspire others and to be a positive Latino influence," commented the Mexican singer.

All Macy's stores in the U.S. will be celebrating the Hispanic Heritage Month. There will be many activities such as taking a look at Thalía's wardrobe (Inside Thalía's Closet), among others.
