Bruce Springsteen did justice to a song he had intended to sing 25 years ago at the end of his first show in Argentina as part of Amnesty International's Human Rights Now! benefit concerts.

On Saturday, the singer and his E Street Band performed in Buenos Aires one more time, delivering a 3-hour, 20-minute marathon concert as part of the "Wrecking Ball" tour. During the show, the singer spoke of the impact his visit to Argentina in 1988 had on him.

Since he was too tired to play a cover version of Argentine artist Leon Gieco's "Solo Le Pido A Dios" ("I Only Ask God"), he instead posted a video of his bilingual version on his website. According to Rolling Stone, Springsteen learned the song from the late folk singer Mercedes Sosa.

"My memories of that time are still very much alive," says Springsteen in the video of his first visit to the South American country. "We came to Argentina when the country was going through a difficult time, and fighting for its future. For a foreigner, Argentina was very much alive, promising. So it's a huge inspiration for me to return here, and I want to leave this song to the people of Argentina," he continued.

After singing the song in Spanish, he switched to English. According to the Latin American Herald, Leon Gieco thanked "The Boss" through his Twitter account for his "very warm" cover of the song.

During his performance in Santiago, Chile, Springsteen paid tribute to Chilean folk singer and songwriter Víctor Jara, who was killed in 1973 during the coup there, by singing Jara's "Manifiesto."

"We met many families of the disappeared," said the singer in reference to the victims of the Pinochet dictatorship, according to Latin Times. "They came with photographies of their beloved missing relatives. It was a moment that stay with me forever. If you are a political musician, Victor Jara is still a great inspiration."

Springsteen and the E Street Band's South American tour continues Saturday at Rock in Rio.
