The big finale is here. After eight full seasons of laughs, debauchery and romance, “How I Met Your Mother” will be coming to close. Next week marks the Season 9 premiere, which will bring the lovable story to its final chapter. Taking place over the entirety of Robin and Barney’s long wedding weekend, each member of the gang will have the pleasure of meeting the coveted Mother, who has long been the undercurrent of the series. The angst couldn’t be greater. It’s too much the handle. There’s so much riding on this season that fans simply cannot wait for it to begin. Luckily for them, plenty of invigorating details from production help provide a clear picture of what’s to come.

Everything’s riding on the Mother, so naturally, that’s what fans want to hear about. How will her first interactions with Ted pan out? Is it really meant to be? Signs point to yes. Ted and the Mother will test the waters throughout the course of Season 9, and don’t worry, there will be plenty of lip locking involved. In a brand new behind-the-scenes featurette, Josh Radnor (Ted) and Cristin Milioti (The Mother) talk about their first kiss and what it’s like filming the final season of such an incredible and adored sitcom.

“I thought it was really smart to introduce her at the end of last season,” Radnor says. “And now it seems like they’re threading her through the season.”

“I think she’s a lovable nerd. She’s like a history nerd. I think she’s a bit of a music nerd. She’s like a literary nerd. She’s very funny, hopelessly awkward,” Milioti said. “She’s actually kind of a little bit like the female version of Ted.”

“We just figured out that we are shooting out first scene together today, our first fake kiss, well it will be a real kiss, but it’s fake,” Radnor says, almost as awkwardly as Ted would. “We have to do it.”
