Spain will take on Chile in an international on Tuesday.

The Spaniards are coming off a 2-0 win in Finland in the World Cup qualifiers and have control over the Group qualifiers with 14 points in six matches; second place France has just 11 points with two games remaining. With a win, the Spanish would clinch the top spot in the group and would automatically qualify for Brazil next summer.

Meanwhile, Chile has assured themselves that they will not finish lower than fifth in the CONMEBOL qualifiers. The team is coming off a 3-0 win against Venezuela and now has 24 points in qualifiers. The team is slated to play Colombia and Ecuador in its final two qualifiers.

These two teams have met nine times in their history. Spain has won eight and drawn once; Chile has never defeated Spain. The teams met for the first time in the 1950 World Cup when Spain won 2-0. In the second game in 1953, Spain pulled off a 2-1 victory in a friendly. The teams played two friendlies in a three day span in 1960; Spain won both by a combined score of 81. In 1981 the teams met again for a 1-1 draw before Spain pulled off a 2-0 win in a friendly match 12 years later. The teams then met once more in 2008 in a 3-0 Spanish win before they encountered one another in the 2010 World Cup group stage. Spain pulled off a vital 2-1 win in that game. In their most recent affair, Spain won 3-2 in 2011. Watch highlights for that match below.

Prediction: Spain wins 2-1.
