Grand Theft Auto 5 is set to be one of the best games to come out this year, with a large part of the appeal coming from the online mode that will launch on October 1, a few weeks after the game officially launches on September 17. Now, developer Rockstar Games has given new details about the Hierarchies system for the Crew aspect of the game's multiplayer.

This news comes from Rockstar themselves, and is based on the Social Club community website. Members can gain the rank of Crew Leader, and then give other members of the crew specific ranks that will affect how much responsibility they will have in the crew.  Crew Leaders are the top dog of the group, and will have ultimate power over the crew. From there, the Crew Leader can assign any amount of members to the various ranks of the crew. The second tier is the Crew Commissioner, who act as administrators for the Crew and can promote or add new members of the crew. The next rank is Lieutenants, followed by Representatives, and Muscle being the lowest rank.  Users can either assign each member a rank in the crew, or they can choose to forego the ranking system and have every member be Muscle.

It seems as though each rank of the in-game Crew can help the lower ranks gain prominence, or keep them down if the crew member is not up to par. It will be interesting to see how the Crew system plays out, and if users will keep a solid structure to their crews or if they decide to have everyone equal within the group.

Each Crew will have their own logos and colors, which may have some sort of significance in the world of Grand Theft Auto Online. Perhaps Crews will have their colors displayed in areas of Los Santos to show the dominance of that particular crew in the open world of the game. After all, if different groups are fighting for prestige within the game, it would make sense to show off this status by having the Crew's colors displayed for all to see in the game.

Grand Theft Auto 5 Online was recently given its own gameplay video, and since then fans of the series are eagerly awaiting the chance to explore Los Santos with friends and see what sort of secrets the world of the game will have. The game will be available on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on September 17.
