The Clintons aren't too happy that embattled New York City mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner effectively confirmed Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential run.

In an interview with Buzzfeed's Ben Smith Monday, Weiner said he knew what role his wife Huma Abedin will play in Clinton's 2016 campaign, seemingly substantiating rumors of Clinton's aspirations for the Oval Office. Abedin, a top adviser to Clinton and long-time family friend, has been working with the former Secretary of State since she was First Lady.

"I do," replied Weiner, when asked whether his wife will have a role in a 2016 Clinton campaign. However, when pressed to specify exactly what his wife's role will be, he demurred, stating, "I'm not telling you."

Weiner also admitted that his sexting scandal has hurt his wife both professionally and emotionally.

"I feel that what I've done has hurt her," Weiner said. "It's hurt her professionally, it's hurt her personally."

In response to Weiner's interview, Clinton spokesman Nick Merrill denied having any idea what Weiner could have been referencing.

"We have absolutely no clue what he was talking about," Merrill said, according to Politico. "Maybe his campaign does. Doubt it though."

In addition, the Clintons aren't pleased that Weiner has decided to pursue his mayoral ambitions, either, "This isn't a story that anybody, particularly the Clintons, are happy to see splashed over the front pages and all over the news relentlessly," former Clinton White House press secretary Dee Dee Myers told CBS' 'Face the Nation' in late July. "I think they as much as anyone would like to see this go away," Myers said.
