Former first overall pick Greg Oden ended the month-long free-agency process after deciding to sign with the defending NBA champions Miami Heat, a reliable league source reported on Friday.

ESPN basketball insider Brian Windhorst reported Oden to sign a two-year deal with the Heat, pocketing $1 million for the first season and having a player option worth $1.1 million for the second season.

Oden, the first overall pick in 2007 NBA Draft by the Portland Trail Blazers, averaged 9.4 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 82 games. Oden spent the last three seasons undergoing knee surgeries and rehabilitation.

Several teams (The Atlanta Hawks, Dallas Mavericks, New Orleans Pelican, Sacramento Kings and the Heat) attended Oden's private workout in Indiana, but in the end, the possibility of winning a championship with LeBron James, Chris Bosh, and Dwayne Wade convinced the center to pick the Heat as his next destination.

"Greg Oden accepting minimum deal means he'll earn $1 million from Heat this season. Player option for next season is $1.1 million," Windhorst posted on his Twitter account.

Oden's addition to the Heat's already formidable lineup will boost the team's frontline and rebounding needs. He's expected to share minutes at center position alongside Chris Andersen and Chris Bosh.
