The San Diego Comic Con is finally upon us, and one of the biggest celebrations of nerd culture will have a variety of exclusive comics, movies, television shows, and video games for attendees during the expo. Join us as we look at some of the biggest video game panels and presentations that are taking place Thursday for the grand opening day of Comic Con.

A big component of this year's Comic Con, perhaps one of the biggest, is that both Sony and Microsoft have hands-on demos for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One games are available for the first time to the public. Both companies have large lines of people eagerly awaiting the chance to test out some of the hottest upcoming games available for both consoles, which could serve as a good indicator of which console has the favor of the general public, months before both console's respective release dates.

Both consoles will have some exclusives out on the floor for gamers to test out. Microsoft has Ryse: Son of Rome available for expo goers to test out their mashing to mastery skills out. The remake of cult classic Killer Instinct is also on the show floor as well. Microsoft has a whole lounge set up for the console at the Manchester Grand Hyatt, as well as various booths scattered around the con, so it will be harder to gauge interest in the console than for the PlayStation 4.

Sony will also have some various exclusives to test out on the floor. Driveclub will be at the event. Microsoft's Forza 5  should also be at the event in some capacity, so it will be interesting to see how the pair of racing titles compares to each other. Knack will also be in attendance during Comic Con, as will Octodad: Dadliest Catch, which is so bizarre that it requires an article all it's own to describe.

As noted during our preview of the convention's video game presentations, Thursday will feature a special panel discussing the upcoming Batman: Arkham Origins. Creative Director Eric Holmes, as well as Roger Craig Smith and Troy Baker, the voice actors for Batman and The Joker, respectively, will be at the panel, which will show new footage from the game as well as new information concerning the series as well. The game, which will be a prequel to the events of the first game of the series, should wow audiences with WB Montreal's follow up to the acclaimed series when the panel starts at 1:00 p.m. PST.

Look out for any Comic Con updates and surprises right here as the festival of all things geek runs through July 21.
