Actress Eva Longoria opend up about her relationship with entrepreneur and philanthropist Ernesto Arguello, who is better known for appearing in the hit reality show "Ready For Love," to People Magazine.

"I think our relationship is so special because it started out with us being good friends. We share a deep friendship that makes us understand each other perfectly and we have the same way of dealing with things as well. I feel very fortunate that our relationship is based on these things," Longoria told People magazine.

Longoria, who recently turned 38, met Arguello, 34, on the set of "Ready For Love," which she produced, and he starred in. Arguello was coupled with former Miss USA Shandi Finnessey on the show and had a relationship with her that ended last year. After the public confirmation that Longoria was dating Arguello, friends celebrated and commented on the new couple.

"The truth is that we are all very happy that they have finally taken this step, because Eva and Ernesto are the perfect couple. They have the same cultural background, they both speak Spanish and they profess the same religion. And besides, they're both very committed to their philanthropy and solidarity. They are very much in love. We all believe that Eva has finally found her better half," said an unidentified friend of Longoria's, accordign to People.

Recently, Longoria went with Arguello to his native Honduras, to visit a school he built in his community, and to see the homes he developed for low-income families. According to a source, their friendship and shared philanthropic interests were the basis for the thriving relationship.

Longoria herself is no stranger to philanthropic causes. The Latin star founded a non-profit called Eva's Heroes that helps disabled children have a better life, and she's also the national spokesperson for PADRES Contra El Cancer, a foundation that prevents cancer among Latinos. In 2009, The Hollywood Reporter even named Longoria "Philanthropist of the Year."

Longoria announced her romance to Arguello just a few days after former husband Tony Parker announced his engagement to girlfriend Axelle Francine.

The actress will appear in the highly-anticipated sequel "Machete Kills" at the end of this year.
