There have been countless rumors surrounding Beyoncé's new album, but none of them have panned out. We've been left drooling for information and leaked details, but the album has been shrouded in secrecy. Back in March, the pop star posted some new material on her website, but the track, "Bow Down / I Been On," has yet to snag a confirmed spot on the album. She hasn't even chosen a single, which leads us to believe that the album may be farther from completion than we had hoped. Please, say it ain't so.

It all began when Beyoncé performed during the Super Bowl Halftime Show. Madonna took the stage in 2012 to launch her new album, and fans hoped Beyoncé would follow in her footsteps. Unfortunately, we heard nothing but the classics. During a slew of magazine interviews following the big performance, we desperately clung on for any indication of new material, but once again came up empty handed.

That's when she released "Bow Down / I Been On," but that too proved to be nothing but a whimsical breath. Then came her Pepsi commercial, which featured the hashtag "#BeyHereNow 4.4.13!" that ran rampart among her social media outlets. As a result, fans flocked to their televisions to watch the ad, which played a small segment of her new song, "Grown Woman." At last, we got what we had been waiting for. All we needed was access to the full version, but it never came. Billboard then squandered all hopes when it announced that the song would not be released on iTunes and wouldn't even be her first single.

Now Beyoncé is overseas in the heat of her world tour, "Mrs. Carter Show." She has to perform some new material during the tour, but as of yet, it's been nothing but the old favorites. Hopefully by the time she arrives in the US, we'll have some new tunes and a confirmed album release date, but let's not get too excited. MTV reports that she will release a new album at some point in the next eight months. Sigh.

At least give us a single, just a little taste of what's to come. We thought we had it with "Grown Woman," but Beyoncé has clearly changed her mind. She's a perfectionist, and she wants to be sure that her first single is the next "Single Ladies." The longer the wait, the sweeter it will taste, but we're starving.
