The biggest story to come out of the BCS championship was not Alabama's third title, but quarterback AJ McCarron's girlfriend Katherine Webb.

Miss Alabama Webb obtained tremendous spotlight when ESPN announcer Brent Musburger made several comments about the model's beauty. Musburger stated that ""What a beautiful woman. Wow. If you're a youngster in Alabama, start getting the football out and throw it around the back yard with pops!" Fellow commentator Kirk Herbstreit added that "AJ's doing some things right."

After the event, ESPN issued an apology which stated that "We always try to capture interesting story lines and the relationship between an Auburn grad who is Miss Alabama and the current Alabama quarterback certainly met that test... However, we apologize that the commentary in this instance went too far and Brent understands that."

However, Webb and her parents do not seem to feel the same way. Speaking with Today show host Matt Lauer, Miss Alabama stated that ""I think the media has been really unfair to [Musburger]. I think if he had said something along the line if we were hot or sexy, I think that would be a little bit different."

She added that ""The fact that he said we were beautiful and gorgeous, I don't think any woman wouldn't be flattered by that. I appreciate it, but at the same time I don't think I needed an apology."

Her father also agreed with her sentiments and told Fox 5 Atlanta that "On one hand, you can look at it as being kind of like the dirty old man, but I'm used to this and I think if you really look into what that he was trying to say, he was trying to be complimentary, and I think they need to give Brent a break."

Webb's mother added that her daughter was not even aware the camera was on her. After the game, Webb's photos and Twitter account exploded and she has since eclipsed her boyfriend's total number of followers.
