With only two days remaining before the Academy Award nominations are announced, "Zero Dark Thirty" and "Lincoln" continued to make their cases by winning best picture awards at Vancouver and North Texas. "Zero Dark Thirty" won its 13th accolade for Best Film at the prestigious Vancouver Film Critics while "Lincoln" picked up its second best film award at the North Texas Film critics.

"Zero Dark Thirty" has recently has been scrutinized for its torture scenes and is undergoing investigation. The film was once thought as the front runner to win the best film at the Academy Awards but its controversy has overshadowed the film's success. Lincoln was also once thought of as a front-runner but its failure to pick up numerous best film awards with critics has hurt its chances.

The critic organizations diverged in every single category. In the best actor race Daniel Day-Lewis picked up his 24th win with North Texas while Joaquin Phoenix won his sixth accolade with Vancouver.

Jennifer Lawrence and Jessica Chastain continued to split critics as Lawrence won in North Texas and Chastain won in Vancouver. Lawrence has now garnered 12 awards, while Chastain has won 15 best actress prizes. The race will most likely settle once the Critics' Choice and Golden Globes hand out their awards.

The same continued to occur in the best supporting actor race. Phillip Seymour Hoffman won his 11th accolade in Vancouver while Tommy Lee Jones picked up his ninth award in North Texas. Like the Best actress race, this award will be determined after the Critics' Choice and Globes pick.

Anne Hathaway continued to win the best supporting actress award at North Texas. However Amy Adams stole a win at Vancouver garnering her fifth accolade. Hathaway has now won 20 precursor awards and seems like a lock to win the Oscar in February. Amy Adams continues to make a strong case for her Oscar nomination after the SAGs ignored her performance.

In the director race Kathryn Bigelow won her 13th award at Vancouver while Steven Spielberg won his first director award in North Texas.

The Academy Award nominations will announce their nominations on Jan, 10th.
