Square Enix recently released a new trailer for “Kingdom Hearts 3” and “Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue,” providing fans with more insight on the features and storyline of the upcoming games. The new footage was shown at the “Jump Festa 2015” event, introducing more gameplay and animation details.

WeGotThisCovered revealed that “Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8” will include two playable titles and one compilation of cinematics. The two games in “2.8” will be fully new. The first game, titled “Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep – A fragmentary passage,” will be shorter and include more episodes focusing on the adventures of Aqua. The game will also allow players to try the new gameplay and graphic engines that will be used in “Kingdom Hearts III.”

“Kingdom Hearts X Back Cover” is a cinematic that will follow an ancient story that helped form the events of the series. There were no characters introduced yet, but it will apparently use the same graphic engine as “Kingdom Hearts III.”

“Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance,” which was launched in 2012 on the Nintendo 3DS, will get the HD console treatment. The plot will establish the conflict that the events in “Kingdom Hearts III” will focus on. Gamers can control Sora and Riku in “Dream Drop Distance” as they explore several Disney-themed worlds and battle the returning Xehanort. The title will be available sometime in 2016.

The short “Kingdom Hearts III” trailer hinted that the worlds of “Tangled” and “Toy Story” will most likely be present in the upcoming game. Sora was featured fighting enemies with Goofy and Donald Duck in various places, including Yen Sid’s tower, Twilight town and the Tangle-themed world. There were also more special powers that originated from famous Disney theme park rides, based on the same report by WeGotThisCovered. Waltonian wrote that the world of “Hercules” will most likely be present in the game too, since the characters were shown in some combat scenes in familiar places from the Disney movie. Minor animation details were also revealed, such as the effects when characters bump into each other.

“Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue” is set to launch on PlayStation 4 in 2016. “Kingdom Hearts III” will launch on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, without an official release date provided. There are rumors that “Kingdom Hearts 3” may become available sometime in 2016 or early in 2017. More updates and details are expected soon.
