Zero Dark Thirty has won a plethora of critics' awards, but the race might start to level out a bit after Argo took the top prize at the San Diego Film Critics.

The film picked up its first major victory despite being nominated in the same category as Django Unchained, Silver Linings Playbook, The Master, and Zero Dark Thirty. Ben Affleck also won Best Director for the first time in Awards season and the film ultimately took home four total victories including Best Editing and Best Adapted Screenplay. Surprisingly it lost Best Ensemble Performance to The Perks of Being a Wallflower, a film which had a solid showing with the San Diego Film Critics.

Emma Watson won for Best Supporting Actress over the likes of Amy Adams, Samantha Barks, Anne Hathaway, and Rebel Wilson. Hathaway and Adams have been top contenders throughout the awards season, so Watson's win could potentially start building buzz for the actress most famous for her role as Hermoine Granger in the Harry Potter films.

Daniel Day-Lewis picked up his sixth win as Best Actor among the critics circles. At this point, it is becoming increasingly clear that Day-Lewis will win his third Oscar come February. Michelle Williams unexpectedly won Best Actress over Jessica Chastain and Jennifer Lawrence and may have propelled herself into the race. Christoph Waltz won Best Supporting Actor for his work in Django Unchained,  though he has been getting some buzz in the last few weeks.
