After going out of the limelight after her devastating loss to Holly Holm last month, MMA star Ronda Rousey showed up at the Marine Corps Ball to accompany a US Marine who previously asked her via Facebook to be his date at the event.

The fighter had accepted his request in September after 22-year-old Jarrod Haschert's video appeal had gone viral.

"Rousey, 28, attended the Friday night event in Maryland with Marine Lance Cpl. Jarrod Haschert, according to social media posts from the event," Time reported. "Haschert, who in his August invite video called Rousey 'a phenomenal person,' hadn't heard from Rousey since she accepted his invitation."

There were speculations that Rousey may not make good on her promise in the wake of her defeat. However, TMZ dispelled the rumor after it caught up with the fighter Friday as she travelled to South Carolina for the event.

"She admits she'd probably be on the couch 'crying and eating ice cream' if she hadn't committed to the ball -- but you can tell she's honored to be going," TMZ said.

"She talks about the rematch and her next movie," it added. "Interesting, her bf Travis Browne is there sending her off."

A rematch? Now that would be another fight worth watching, where Rousey fans are concerned.

Based on the snaps of Rousey attending the ball uploaded on social media, it appeared she had a good time.

"Thank you Lance Cpl. Jarrod Haschert for taking me to the Marine Corps Ball, being such a gentleman, and putting a smile on my face again," her Instagram post about the event said, confirming observations about her participation in the Ball.

Back in August, Haschert invited Rousey to the ball via a video clip which had since gone viral.

"You are my celebrity crush," was quoted by Entertainment Tonight as saying in the clip. "I love everything you do and I think you are a phenomenal person. Which is why it would be my honor to take you to the Marine Corps Ball on Dec. 11."

"I really hope this doesn't get in the way of your training for your next fight in January, but I hope you take this into consideration because if you do, you'll truly be making my dream come true," he went on.

Rousey was previously set to fight Holm on January 2 in Las Vegas. However, it was moved to November 14 in Melbourne, Australia, allowing the fighter/actress to squeeze in a date with the Marine.
