The events from Ann Curry's firing from Today have earned her a distinction from MAD magazine.

The satirical magazine listed their "Dumbest People, Events, and Things in 2012" with names from Lance Armstrong, Kristen Stewart, Apple Maps, Facebook, Mitt Romney, and Barack Obama.

Curry placed at number 12.

With the subtitle "The Legendary Humiliation of Ann Curry," she was featured in a mock poster of the film Anchorman with caricatures of Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker, and NBC executive producer Jim Bell.

MAD noted the reports of the lack of chemistry with Lauer, the fall of viewership ratings, ABC's Good Morning America overtaking Today's reign as the top morning show, and how NBC executives might have used Curry as a scapegoat as their reasons for Curry's 12th place spot.

Curry's demise on Today started in the spring this year, same time as Lauer was negotiating a new contract for the show. Curry left in June with a tearful goodbye and many viewers placed blame on Lauer.

NBC executive Bell ultimately accepted the blame, stating, "It was definitely not Matt's call. He is the host and does not have management responsibility. It was not his call. That was my call."

Bell's tenure on the NBC morning show ended in November as he went on to focus on the NBC Olympics coverage and was replaced by Alexandra Wallace and Don Nash.

Curry has since reappeared on Today but for special reports and on other NBC news programs such as Rock Center
